JERRY AMSTERDAM OPENS NEW EXHIBITION AT CAFÉ BRUXELLES, HAARLEM

May 23, 2026

On June 1st at 17:00, Jerry Amsterdam will open a new exhibition at Café Bruxelles in Haarlem, marking the next step in his steadily evolving artistic journey.

Following a series of exhibitions across Amsterdam, Amstelveen, and Haarlem, this new presentation continues Jerry’s exploration of layered printmaking and expressive abstraction. What began during the lockdown as an intuitive investigation into linocuts and monoprints has developed into a distinctive visual language—one that balances structure and spontaneity with increasing precision.

At Café Bruxelles, visitors can expect a selection of works that reflect this ongoing refinement. The pieces bring together geometric rhythms, hand-cut stencils, and fluid applications of color. Layers build depth, while open spaces create movement and lightness. There is a clear sense of control, but never at the expense of energy.

The setting itself offers an interesting contrast. Café Bruxelles, known for its intimate and informal atmosphere, allows the work to be experienced up close and in a more personal way. Rather than a traditional gallery environment, this exhibition invites visitors to encounter the prints as part of a living, social space—something that has become a recurring and meaningful aspect of Jerry’s exhibitions.

This new show follows his recent presentation at Sounds Haarlem, where his work engaged with the raw, tactile character of a record store setting. At Café Bruxelles, the dialogue shifts again, placing the work in a context that is quieter but equally alive.

The opening on June 1st is an opportunity to experience the latest phase of Jerry Amsterdam’s work firsthand, meet the artist, and see how his practice continues to unfold—layer by layer.
